The Greenhouse presents the Northwest Arkansas BioDesign Sprints (NABS) program, a dynamic partnership between the University of Arkansas, HealthTech Arkansas, and leading healthcare institutions in Northwest Arkansas. Our primary goal is to tackle the challenges faced by medical professionals by identifying critical problems and creating initial solutions.
Our paid student interns work closely with clinicians, researchers, and medical partners to identify potential challenges and develop distinctive innovations that hold promise as marketable medical solutions.
To date, our interdisciplinary teams have created more than fifteen novel medical device and technology solutions, and have successfully been awarded provisional patents for five device prototypes. Additionally, one of our graduate student new venture development teams is building a startup around a software concept developed in partnership with Highlands Oncology through BioDesign.
Funded by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation, NABS is led by the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in partnership with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, HealthTech Arkansas, and major regional healthcare systems. We currently partner with Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Washington Regional Medical Center, Highlands Oncology Group, Community Clinic of NWA, and Mercy Northwest.
By addressing healthcare challenges through collaboration, innovation, and partnerships, the NABS program aims to make a positive impact on the industry, ultimately enhancing patient care and outcomes in our community.
