Historically known as Students Acquiring Knowledge through Enterprise (S.A.K.E.), Entrepreneurship Practicum (MGMT 4993 & MGMT 5993) allows students to manage a business.
ForeverRed provides students with a unique learning opportunity that allows them to participate in all categories of a business, including accounting, marketing and sales, customer service, and operations.
Undergraduate students majoring in management through Walton College of Business may take MGMT 4993 (S.A.K.E.) as an elective that counts toward a concentration in entrepreneurship. Graduate students may also take part in S.A.K.E. business activities through the Entrepreneurship Practicum (MGMT 5993), which is an elective option for the Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship.
Since its creation in 1996, S.A.K.E. has given U of A students experience working in and managing a business. Hundreds of students who have participated in the class and corresponding ForeverRed business have credited the program with helping them land their first jobs, achieving promotions, and giving them the confidence and knowledge to start their own businesses.
In addition to the support from generous benefactors like Frank Fletcher, students have used profits from ForeverRed to take many international educational trips, including visits to China, Tunisia, Costa Rica, and Belize. This unique class has received two national awards for innovation in entrepreneurship teaching.
